Support a FOSTY Program

The Youth Bureau’s six-week summer program introduces a new theme every summer.  Youth are given the opportunity to learn about the great resources our Island has to offer, through food, art, education, and recreation. Although admission is kept low at $600 for six weeks, some families find it a struggle to pay.   

The Southampton Youth Bureau offers education and skill building events and programs for youth in  grades k through 12.  Youth Bureau programs are offered at a reduced rate so everyone is able to participate.  There are times where even the reduced rate may seem a lot for families.  FOSTY scholarships have helped make many events and programs affordable for youth from low-income families. 

Scholarships will help pay for youth attending programs such as Kids Cooking Club, Project Leap through East End Ballet, and the Youth Bureau’s annual NYC trip to Broadway. 

Youth & Government is a national program where teens in grades 9 - 12 have the opportunity to practice civic engagement and learn about the democratic process. Youth discuss and debate issues that affect citizens of New York State, create their own bills, and deliberate them in the chambers of the NYS Legislature in Albany. 

Youth are responsible for paying their way to Albany for the annual state conference.  FOSTY has made it possible for many students to attend this trip and be able to debate their bills they worked so hard to create.

Students meet bi-monthly to discuss how they can make a difference for people in Southampton Town.   Participants work together to plan activities and programs for their peers and choose community service projects monthly.  FOSTY hopes to continue supporting community service projects by helping purchase of supplies for YAC.  Some prior projects this past year included building garden boxes at the Flanders Community Center for the Community Garden, helping senior citizens with leaf clean up, and offering a free interactive movie night for families at SYS.
